Vineyard Power 2025 End of Year Appeal
We want to thank you, Vineyard, for your support and encouragement this past year!
Dear Reader,
2025 marked another successful year for the Vineyard Power team and our Energy Transition Program – an effort to educate, coach, and support residents, businesses, and the building trades in the transition towards an environmentally just, 100% renewable energy and fossil fuel-free economy.
Read on for a summary of our work in 2025:
Community First Partnership
As the Community First Partner of Cape Light Compact for Mass Save energy efficiency programing, we met hundreds of islanders in the community, at Cronig’s, Stop & Shop, public libraries, senior centers, First Fridays, Oak Bluffs Harbor Fest, Chilmark Flea Market, Tivoli Day, Harvest Fest at the Ag Hall, and many more, to design personalized Energy Transition plans for islanders through energy efficiency, ratepayer assistance, and various rebate/incentive programs.
Through this partnership, we supported approximately 470 households and businesses in signing up for No-Cost Home / Business Energy Assessments - the first step in reducing your energy bill and your carbon footprint. In total, we helped deliver an approximate $12 million in energy services to island residents this year – including weatherization, air-source-heat pumps, heat pump hot water heaters, induction cooktops, electric lawn equipment, and more.
We are pleased to say that our outreach efforts helped nearly double services provided to income-eligible customers on Martha’s Vineyard compared to last year, from under 200 service tickets in 2024 to an estimated 370 in 2025!
Energy Coaching
Our staff held over 100 No-Cost Energy Coaching Sessions in Energy Efficiency, Income Eligible Programs, Buildings, Solar + Storage, and Electric Vehicles in 2025.

Resiliency and Affordability Program
Solar and Battery Storage
Last year, we pledged $236,000 to the Town of Tisbury and $375,000 to the Town of West Tisbury over 20 years to enable the development of solar and battery storage projects that provide renewable energy generation and meaningful resilience for the Tisbury Senior Center and West Tisbury Public Library. Following a thorough planning and development phase, we anticipate these projects will begin producing power in the first half of 2026.
In addition, Vineyard Power has pledged a total of $260,000 to Island Housing Trust to support the installation of solar and battery storage technology at Meshacket Commons, Kuehn's Way, Tackenash Knoll, Veteran's House, and the 401 State Road property.
Last but not least, we have pledged a combined amount upwards of $380,000 to Camp Jabberwocky, the MV Hospital, and the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) to subsidize solar and battery storage projects.
Stay tuned for news and updates on these projects in 2026!
Income-Eligible Assistance
Through our Income Eligible Direct Subsidy Initiative, Vineyard Power Donated $100,000 over the last year to approximately 440 income-eligible households to reduce annual electricity costs by over $227/household.
Any customers enrolled in both the Eversource Discount Rate and the Cape Light Compact Power Supply are eligible for this program.

Work with the WTGHA
Following the completion of a Priority Climate Action Plan, Vineyard Power worked to complete a Comprehensive Climate Action Plan for the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) in 2025. The plan lead Tribal leadership to adopt goals aligned with the 100% Renewable Martha’s Vineyard Resolution and identifies GHG emission reduction measures for the Tribe to meet their goals.
Education Programming
Vineyard Power had an amazing year delivering renewable energy lessons to elementary, middle and high school students across the island. We visited every middle school to run Offshore Wind Turbine building and Solar Car Race lessons, led Renewable Energy Career Pathways sessions at MVRHS, and launched a new Multiplayer Virtual Reality lesson with elementary school aged students at the MV Boys and Girls Club.
Vineyard Wind
Over the summer, the Vineyard Power team embarked on a boat trip to visit the Vineyard Wind 1 project up close and in action.
The Vineyard Wind 1 project is set to be completed in 2026. When complete, the project will produce enough carbon dioxide-free electricity to power over 400,000 homes annually, removing the equivalent CO2 emissions of 350,000 vehicles each year! Check out some of the photos our crew took during the trip!
Summer Interns
This year, Vineyard Power hired two stellar college-aged summer interns, Tristan Scott and Lily Ornstein.
We wish them the best as they finish up their senior years of college at the University of Colorado Boulder and Boston College!
Your financial support helps fund programs such as:
$100 – Reduces one low-income ratepayer’s yearly electricity bill by 7-10%.
$500 – Supports education and outreach programming at our island schools including the MV Solar Car Race and the Kid Wind Program.
$1,000 - Supports our Energy Coach Network for any islander seeking advice on electric vehicles, solar, and energy efficiency.
$5,000 - Funds an island high school student into our work-study internship program and provides an opportunity to begin a career in renewable energy.
$10,000 - Provides the use of a data logging system to track energy usage at municipal, non-profit, and tribal facilities and size resiliency projects.
$25,000 – Enable necessary resiliency projects for island towns, the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah), non-profits and the County that will bring battery storage technology to the island’s critical facilities.
The earth is warming, it’s caused by us, we know it.
Its bad - but we can fix it!
Now, more than ever, the community-driven grassroots work that Vineyard Power does is critical to advancing an equitable energy transition for our local community. The energy transition has only just begun, and we need your support to ensure everyone on Martha’s Vineyard has access to the resources that will enable the island to move on from fossil fuels while saving money and creating local jobs.
Thank you for being a supporter of Vineyard Power!
Sincerely,
The Vineyard Power Team
Richard Andre, Nicoleta Trandafir, Luke Lefeber, Thamiris Marta, and Hollis Kelly
